Allocation: Is your ability to spend your time, money, and energy wisely. One easy way to allocate things is to split everything you do into one of two categories: the Instant Zone and the Lasting Zone.

Instant Zone: These are all the things in life that do not matter much because they do not help you accomplish your most important goals. Many of the things in the Instant Zone are tempting, like the Snickers. They taste good in the short run but often leave you unsatisfied.

Lasting Zone: These are all the things in life that do matter, such as getting home on the train. You may be hungry because you did not eat the Snickers, but you are getting what you really wanted—a ride home.
